Accepting the gift of airfare and hotel from Brookings to reimburse costs incurred by Mayor Coleman and Cecile Bedor at the Global Metro Summit 2010.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Policy Program at Brookings, the London School of Economics and Deutsche Bank´s Alfred Herrhausen Society are hosting "Global Metro Summit 2010: Delivering the Next Economy" a two-day program to be held in Chicago, Illinois on December 7 and 8, 2010; and
WHEREAS, the workshop focuses on regional economic development planning and will feature a symposium on developing new models for growth which respond to current economic, fiscal, environmental, and demographic imperatives; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Chris Coleman and Cecile Bedor, Director of Planning and Development, have been invited to attend the two day workshop, and their airfare and hotel costs will be reimbursed by the Brookings; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the participation in the workshop by these city officials will benefit the City; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts the gift of airfare and hotel costs from the Brookings, and appropriates it to the use of reimbursing those costs incurred by the attendance of Mayor Coleman and Cecile Bedor at the Global Metro Summit 2010, and further thanks the Brookings for its generous gift.
