Recommending that the Nice Ride Minnesota bike share project expand into Saint Paul.
Body
WHEREAS, Nice Ride Minnesota as implemented in Minneapolis is a local success story, and has also drawn attention nationally, inspiring other cities to develop bike-sharing programs; and
WHEREAS, Nice Ride has enabled over 80,000 trips since June 2010, encouraging a healthy transportation alternative and providing an easy step toward active transportation; and
WHEREAS, a proposed expansion of Nice Ride into Saint Paul would provide more people with access to bike share, would improve Nice Ride's connections to transit, and enhance the program's visibility as a model for other cities; and
WHEREAS, the City of Minneapolis and Blue Cross Blue Shield are committed to supporting Nice Ride's Phase 2 expansion;
BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Saint Paul also supports Nice Rice Ride's Phase 2 expansion; and
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the City of Saint Paul urges Transit for Livable Communities to grant funds through its Nonmotorized Transportation Pilot (NTP) program for the expansion of Nice Ride into Saint Paul.
