WHEREAS, the Knight Foundation in partnership with the Bloomberg Center for Cities at Harvard University is holding a convening that will bring together mayors from the twenty six Knight cities to exchange ideas and practical approaches for strengthening resident trust through service delivery, engagement, and the responsible use of data and AI and create space to build cross-city relationships with fellow Knight mayors and strengthen the network of leaders advancing more responsive local government; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Her has been invited to attend and participate in the Leading a Government Residents Can See and Trust convening with Knight city mayors; and
WHEREAS, the convening will take place at Harvard University from 9/28/2026 - 9/29/2026; and
WHEREAS, the Knight Foundation in partnership with the Bloomberg Center for Cities at Harvard University has offered to cover the tuition, travel expenses, meals, and lodging for Mayor Her to attend not to exceed $4,000; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Saint Paul finds that attendance at this convening is beneficial to the City by providing an opportunity for participants to engage in sessions to develop expertise, obtain practical knowledge, and to develop a professional network; now therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts the gift of tuition and travel expenses for Mayor Her to attend the program and thanks the Knight Foundation and Bloomberg Center for Cities at Harvard University for their generosity.
