Authorizing the City to apply for $7.5 million from the Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund for the Mississippi River Learning Center Peninsula Restoration project.

Body

 

WHEREAS, the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources has issued a request for proposals for eligible projects to be funded with Fiscal Year 2026 Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund (ENRTF) appropriations; and

 

WHEREAS, the Mississippi River Learning Center project has advanced in the design process and is ready to assemble capital funding to begin implementation of project phases; and

 

WHEREAS, the peninsula restoration portion of the project is eligible to receive ENRTF funding; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is requesting permission to apply for $7.5 million in grant funds from the ENRTF to implement the peninsula restoration phase of the project; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, the Saint Paul City Council expressly provides its support for the City of Saint Paul to submit a grant application to the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources to implement the Mississippi River Learning Center Peninsula Restoration.
