Authorizing the Department of Public Works to enter into an agreement with Ramsey County for the Maryland and Rice intersection to allow for construction of this project by both entities as one project.

WHEREAS, Ramsey County desires to reconstruct Maryland Avenue between Albemarle Street and Park Street during the 2011 construction season, widening Maryland a sufficient distance to allow for the addition of left turn lanes for east bound and west bound traffic at Rice Street, and
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul desires to replace the street lighting system on this same segment of Maryland Avenue, and to replace the signal system at the intersection of Maryland Avenue and Rice Street, and
WHEREAS, the City and the County have drafted the attached Agreement to allow for construction of this project by both entities as one project, and
WHEREAS, the 2010 adopted Capital Improvement Budget includes $500,000 of MSA funds for the Citys share of this project.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul does hereby approve that the above-described improvements be made, and that the proper City officials are directed and authorized to proceed with the improvement; and be it
FINALLY RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul enter into the attached Agreement with Ramsey County, number PW-2010-19, and that the Mayor and proper City officials are authorized to execute the Agreement and any amendments to the Agreement.
