Title

Authorizing the Police Department to enter into a Joint Powers Agreement, which includes an indemnification clause, with the State of Minnesota for the Standardized Field Sobriety testing program, and amending the 2018 grant fund budget for this agreement.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department (SPPD) wishes to enter into a Joint Powers Agreement with the State of Minnesota, Commissioner of Public Safety which includes an indemnification clause; and

 

WHEREAS, this agreement requires the SPPD to provide a qualified instructor to train in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) grant program; and

 

WHEREAS, the 2018 financing and spending plan needs to be amended and activity budget added for these funds; and

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $2,760 in excess of those estimated in the 2018 budget and recommends the following changes; and

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the city council approves the changes to the 2018 budget and authorizes the City of Saint Paul to enter into and Assistant Chief Kathleen Wuorinen to implement the agreement with the State of Minnesota which includes an indemnification clause.
