Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to accept a grant from Cargill, Incorporated in the amount of $5,000, and authorizing the amending of the 2014 Budget in accordance with this donation to support environmental programming and volunteer resources.

Body
WHEREAS, The Saint Paul Parks Conservancy (Conservancy) is a Minnesota non-profit, 501(c)(3), organization whose mission is to enhance and expand parks and recreational opportunities throughout Saint Paul; and

WHEREAS, Cargill contributed more than $4 million in fiscal 2013 to environmental partnerships and support for projects including environmental conservation education; and

WHEREAS, through an existing, local partnership with Cargill, the Conservancy and the Department of Parks and Recreation were extended an opportunity to submit a grant proposal; and

WHEREAS, Cargill has committed $5,000 to the Conservancy to support environmental education and volunteer programs serving residents and regional visitors of Saint Paul regional parks; and

WHEREAS, the Natural Resources section of Parks and Recreation is expanding volunteer opportunities and environmental programs in Regional Parks; and

WHEREAS, project work will bring volunteer and education support to habitat restoration opportunities identified within site-specific management plans; and

WHEREAS, Parks and Recreation is seeking approval to accept this grant and also wishes to increase the financing and spending authority in its Grant and Aid fund to accurately reflect this additional revenue and spending; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $5,000 in excess of those estimated in the 2014 Grants and Aid Budget; now, therefore, be it
