Authorizing the Saint Paul Police Department to accept the donation from the Saint Paul Police Foundation in the amount of $19,500.
Body
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Foundation was formed in 2005 to help the Saint Paul Police Department (SPPD) in many ways including insuring that public safety for our citizens remains the number one priority for our city; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Foundation board of directors has approved the granting/donation of $19,500 to the SPPD, and;
WHEREAS, the SPPD would like to accept the donation; and
WHEREAS, the SPPD will use $15,000 for the Saint Paul Safe City Initiative Program which is a public/private partnership between the SPPD, area institutions and businesses to build trust, share information and leverage technology to deter and reduce crime in Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, $4,000 will be used the 2010 Shop with Cops Program and $500 will be used for the 2010 Cops and Kids hospital program; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts this generous donation and extend its sincere thanks to the Saint Paul Police Foundation.
