Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to apply for a USA Archery grant to support Saint Paul’s archery program.
Body
WHEREAS, USA Archery administers an archery program thanks to generous contribution by the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (AFWA) and the US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS); and
WHEREAS, USA Archery’s goal is to expand archery into new communities across the US, to recruit diverse instructors, and to grow archery in urban and suburban areas; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to apply for said grant to enable two employees to attend a one-day USA Archery Instructor Academy to become certified as a USA Archery Level 2 Instructor and be well prepared to implement an Explore Archery Program; and
WHEREAS, if awarded, selected applicants will receive the Explore Archery Program curriculum and achievement awards, a range rules and steps of shooting poster, and the equipment necessary to implement an Explore Archery Program for beginners; and
WHEREAS, if awarded, all grantees must commit to implementing a USA Archery, Explore Archery Program for a minimum of five years and agrees to participate in follow-up surveys as requested by USA Archery over the same timeframe; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Department of Parks and Recreation is authorized to apply for said USA Archery grant.
