Recognizing Wendy Neurer's career with the City of Saint Paul and congratulating her on her retirement.

WHEREAS, Wendy Neurer lives in the Highland Park home that she grew up in; and
WHEREAS, Wendy started her journey with the City of Saint Paul in 1981 as a Community Educator, working in the Parks Department; and
WHEREAS, Wendy came to the Saint Paul Public Library (SPPL) in April 1993, working as a Library Specialist and became SPPL’s Library Volunteer Coordinator in August 1993; and
WHEREAS, with her husband, Wendy raised her family in Saint Paul and her two beloved sons graduated from Saint Paul high schools; and
WHEREAS, Wendy organized placements for and nurtured lasting relationships with thousands of volunteers in the library over the decades, supporting volunteers in doing work from tutoring to gardening to 3D printing; and
WHEREAS, Wendy assisted hundreds of college and university students by creating opportunities for work study, service learning and internships and in 2018, was recognized by St. Catherine University and Macalester College for her excellent work with college students; and
WHEREAS, Wendy was renowned for organizing an elegant and meaningful volunteer recognition dinner each and every year for hundreds of SPPL volunteers; and
WHEREAS, after over 39 years, Wendy is bringing her public service career to a close; and
WHEREAS, in retirement Wendy will be able to spend more time with her family and in her garden, walking along the Mississippi River and pursuing crafts and activities which bring her joy; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, the Saint Paul City Council thanks Wendy Neurer for her years of dedicated public service to the people of Saint Paul; and be it further
RESOLVED, the Saint Paul City Council congratulates Wendy Neurer on her entrance into the next chapters of her life where she will be able to enjoy the fruits of her many years of service with her loving family.
