Amending the 2023 spending budget in the Department of Public Works General Fund Street Maintenance accounting units.
Body
WHEREAS, in the beginning of 2023 there were higher levels of winter maintenance costs, including responding to four snow emergencies along with icing- events that required additional time and crews for plowing, snow removal and salting. Furthermore, there was also a one-sided parking event implemented to increase snow removal on City streets; and
WHEREAS, as a result of these maintenance activities, the Winter Street maintenance accounting unit has incurred snow emergency-related costs beyond the adopted budget; and
WHEREAS, spending to date in 2023 for the Summer Street Maintenance accounting unit have been below their expected budgeted amounts, and there are savings estimated of $852,588.
WHEREAS, spending to date in 2023 for the Street Maintenance Administration accounting unit have been below their expected budgeted amounts, and there are savings estimated of $200,000.
WHEREAS, these savings from these accounting unit will be reallocated to the Winter Street Maintenance accounting unit; therefore via
ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER, consistent with the authority granted to the Mayor in Section 10.07.4 of the City Charter, and on the request of the Director of the Public Works Department to amend the 2023 budget in the Public Works General Fund Street Maintenance accounting units, the Office of Financial Services is authorized to amend said budget in the manner as specified in the attached financial analysis.
