Title

Staff is seeking Board approval of a contract for hydrant painting services throughout the City of Saint Paul.

 

 

Body

WHEREAS, Saint Paul Regional Water Services (SPRWS) is responsible for the maintenance and preservation of water distribution system infrastructure within the City of Saint Paul; and

 

WHEREAS, SPRWS has identified approximately 700 fire hydrants throughout the City of Saint Paul requiring repainting as part of its ongoing asset management and maintenance program; and

 

WHEREAS, the repainting of fire hydrants will restore protective coatings, improve hydrant visibility, enhance system appearance, and help prevent corrosion and deterioration, thereby extending the useful life of these assets; and

 

WHEREAS, SPRWS utilizes master contracts to obtain qualified contractors to perform maintenance services in an efficient and cost-effective manner; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Board of Water Commissioners of the City of Saint Paul hereby approves the master contract for hydrant painting services to support maintenance and repainting of approximately 700 fire hydrants throughout the City of Saint Paul; and be it

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, that staff are authorized to issue work orders under the master contract as needed for completion of hydrant painting services in accordance with the approved scope of work; and be it

 

FINALLY RESOLVED, that this work supports SPRWS’s asset management program and the preservation of critical water distribution system infrastructure.
