Accepting a gift of $309,000 from The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library and amending the Library’s 2026 Financing and Spending Plans.

WHEREAS, The Saint Paul Public Library Agency (“SPPL”) is currently undergoing a multi-year, public-private partnership project titled Transforming Libraries which will renew and refresh three well-loved and well-worn libraries and update technology and play and learn spaces across SPPL locations (the “Transforming Libraries Project”); and
WHEREAS, SPPL will receive a donation of $309,000 from The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library, a Minnesota nonprofit organization, to be directed to the Transforming Libraries Project; and
WHEREAS, specifically, the money will be used to increase budgeted spending for the transformation of Play and Learn spaces at the Sun Ray and Rondo libraries.
WHEREAS, the financing and spending plans for these funds have not been established; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 10.7.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, the Mayor does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $309,000 in excess of those estimated in the 2026 budget; now, therefore, be
RESOLVED, that SPPL’s 2026 budget, as heretofore adopted by the Library Board, is hereby amended as indicated in the attached fiscal analysis form; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Library Board thanks The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library for its generous gift.
