Accepting the gift of travel expenses and lodging from the League of Minnesota Cities and the National League of Cities for the Mayor and Mayor Office staff to prepare for and attend the National League of Cities' Presidential swearing-in ceremonies in Seattle Washington in November, 2013.

WHEREAS, the National League of Cities (NLC) will hold a meeting and ceremony to swear Mayor Chris Coleman in as President of the NLC; and
WHEREAS, the NLC will meet in November 2013 in Seattle Washington; and
WHEREAS, the Minnesota League of Cities and the National League of Cities has offered to pay for the flight, transportation, hotel and meal accommodations to enable Mayor's office staff to participate in the planning of the conference and to attend the meeting; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that attendance at the meeting will fulfill a public purpose by giving the Mayor's staff the opportunity to meet with representatives of cities throughout the country and discuss strategies for encouraging innovation in municipal government; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts the gift of travel expenses for the Mayor and Mayor's office staff and thanks the Minnesota League of Cities and the National League of Cities for its generous gift.
