Extending the time to review the amendment to Section 17.07.1. (c) of the Saint Paul Charter for 90 days.

WHEREAS, on June 7, 2023, in Council Resolution RES 23-839, the Saint Paul City Council requested that the Charter Commission recommend certain changes to Section 17.07.1. (c) of the Saint Paul City Charter; and
WHEREAS, such proposal was submitted to the Charter Commission on June 13, 2023; and
WHEREAS, under Minn. Stat. § 410.12, subd. 5, the Charter Commission has 60 days to consider such proposal but may extend that time to review proposed changes for an additional 90 days “by filing with the city clerk its resolution determining that an additional time for review is needed”; and
WHEREAS, the sixty-day deadline will expire on August 12, 2023; and
WHEREAS, the Charter Commission seeks to extend this deadline in order to ensure there is sufficient time to consider the proposed amendment and allow for public input; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Charter Commission directs staff to submit this resolution to the City Clerk declaring that additional time for review of the proposed changes to Charter Section 17.07.1. (c) is needed and extending the time for review for an additional 90 days until November 10, 2023.
