Title

Authorizing the Fire Department to enter into a joint powers agreement with the State of Minnesota - State Patrol Division for helicopter operation training.

Body

WHEREAS, pursuant to Minn. Stat. Section 471.59, two or more governmental units, by agreement entered into through action of their governing bodies, may jointly or cooperatively exercise any power common to the contracting parties or may provide for the exercise of such powers by one or more of the participating governmental units on behalf of the other participating units; and

 

WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota on behalf of the Minnesota State Patrol and City of Saint Paul through its Fire Department will provide the citizens of Minnesota a trained rescue unit capable of performing aerial rescues and a trained aerial firefighting team through joint training; and

 

WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Fire Department will reimburse the State for the helicopter and pilot costs; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the proper City officials are hereby authorized and directed to execute a joint powers agreement with the State of Minnesota for helicopter operation training and pilot time; a copy of said agreement is attached hereto and is to be kept on file and of record in the Fire Department.
