Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to accept the gift of travel expenses, lodging, and meals from the U.S. Department of Labor for Nardos Tesfalidet to attend the Youth Systems Building Academy convening in Washington D.C. from May 20 to May 23, 2024.
Body
WHEREAS, the mission of Right Track is to connect Saint Paul youth and young adults with meaningful work experience, training and career exploration opportunities so they are prepared to thrive and prosper; and,
WHEREAS, one of the strategic objectives of Right Track is to position Saint Paul as a local and regional leader in the field of youth employment; and:
WHEREAS, the Youth Systems Building Academy is an initiative of the U.S. Department of Labor's Employment and Training Administration, and;
WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Labor is hosting a Youth Systems Building Academy convening with representatives from teams across multiple cities in training and designing local youth workforce ecosystems, and;
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul’s Right Track program has been invited to join Ramsey County, Saint Paul Public Schools, Saint Paul College, YouthPrise and Face to Face, and;
WHEREAS, Nardos Tesfalidet has been invited to represent the City of Saint Paul at the U.S. Department of Labor Youth System Building Academy in Washington D.C. May 20 to May 23, 2024; and;
WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Labor will cover the travel expenses, lodging, and meals for Nardos Tesfalidet to attend the convening; and;
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Saint Paul finds that attendance at this convening to be beneficial to the City by providing an opportunity to develop expertise, obtain practical knowledge, and expand Right Track's professional network;
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the Right Track program has a public purpose; now, therefore, be it
