Authorizing the Fire Department to accept the 2024 Assistance to Firefighter Grant (AFG) for $679,543.63 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide training and physicals for firefighters.
Body
WHEREAS, the Fire Department will use the funds to directly support paramedic training, firefighter physicals, Incident Safety Officer training, Sleep Matter training and the Art of Reading Smoke training; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Department applied for and received a grant in the amount of $679,543.63 to provide training and physicals for firefighters from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and
WHEREAS, the 2024 Assistance to Firefighters Grant includes a grant of $747,498 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Assistance to Firefighters Grant program which has a federal share of $679,543.63 and a $10% matching fund contribution of $67,954.37, and
WHEREAS, the City Council previously approved the submission of the grant application on RES 24-1835, and
WHEREAS, by this Resolution, the Council authorizes the acceptance of the 2024 Assistance to Firefighters Grant, and authorizes execution of a grant agreement with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, now
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of Saint Paul authorizes the Fire Department to accept the grant and execute a grant agreement for the $679,543.63 for the 2024 Assistance to Firefighters Grant.
