Accepting the gift of airfare, lodging, and meals from the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, for Jonathan Sage-Martinson, Director of the Department of Planning and Economic Development, to attend a National League of Cities event featuring HUD Secretary Julián Castro for the Prosperity Playbook Community of Practice meeting.

WHEREAS, the Prosperity Playbook Community of Practice Meeting will convene in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on November 18, 2016; and
WHEREAS, the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy has specifically extended an invitation to Mr. Jonathan Sage-Martinson, Director of the Department of Planning and Economic Development, as a leader on policy issues related to economic mobility and housing affordability, and
WHEREAS, the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy has offered to pay a stipend of $500.00 to pay some travel, lodging and meal costs associated with Mr. Sage-Martinson’s attendance; and
WHERES, the City of Saint Paul believes that having Mr. Sage-Martinson attend the HUD session with Secretary Castro will be beneficial to the City and it serves a public purpose;
NOW THEREFORE, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby accepts the gift of $500.00 to cover airfare, lodging and some meal expenses of Mr. Sage-Martinson for the Prosperity Playbook Community of Practice meeting and thanks the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy for its generous gift.
