Authorizing the Police Department's expenditures relating to the Canine Unit's community engagement meetings, community engagement events, and training sessions in 2026.
Body
WHEREAS, the Police Canine Unit conducts multiple professional training sessions and participates in training exercises with multi-jurisdictional law enforcement agencies; and
WHEREAS, the Police Canine Unit hosts multiple community engagement meetings and events throughout the year; and
WHEREAS, the public purpose is to foster the Department's commitment to trusted service with respect in the community; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Department is requesting authorization to expense food, beverage, and admittance costs for officers that are required to be in attendance; and
WHEREAS, funding for Canine Unity’s community engagement expenses were approved as part of the General and Special Fund 2026 Adopted Budgets; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that pursuant to the 2026 city budget, the proper city officials are hereby authorized to remit an amount not to exceed $4,000 to cover these expenses.
