Title

Authorizing the Fire Department to apply for the 2025 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) in the amount of $2,000,000 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide paramedic training, enhanced physicals for firefighters, turnout gear, EMS equipment, and firefighter equipment.

Body

WHEREAS, the Fire Department would like to apply for the 2025 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) from FEMA to provide paramedic training, enhance physicals for firefighters, turnout gear, EMS equipment, and firefighter equipment; and

 

WHEREAS, the grant amount would be $2,000,000 of which the federal government would provide $1,818,181.82 to support the program; and

 

WHEREAS, the grant requires a 10% match of $181,818.18 which would be paid from the fire department's budget over the two years of the grant term; and

 

WHEREAS, the Grants Division of the Office of Financial Services has reviewed and approved the Intent to Apply request; and

 

WHEREAS, the City certifies that it will comply with all applicable laws and regulations as stated in the grant agreement; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the City Council authorizes the Fire Department to apply for the 2025 Assistance to Firefighters Grant.
