Endorsing and approving the Department of Parks and Recreation ADA Transition Plan.
Body
WHEREAS, an ADA Transition Plan is required in order to be in compliance with Title II of the American’s With Disabilities Act of 1990; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department has developed an ADA Transition Plan that outlines a phased approach for the removal of barriers at existing recreation facilities, parks and amenities owned or operated by the agency pursuant to the requirements of Title II of the ADA; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department’s ADA Transition Plan has been reviewed by the City’s ADA Coordinator with a recommendation for review and approval by the Mayor’s Advisory Council for Persons with Disabilities (“MACPD”); and
WHEREAS, the Department sent the MACPD the ADA Transition Plan in December of 2017, met with the MACPD on January 16, 2018, updated the Plan based on MACPD feedback and received approval by the MACPD on the updated version of the Plan on February 20, 2018; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Commission reviewed and approved the Department’s ADA Transition Plan at their regularly scheduled meeting on April 12, 2018; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council endorses and approves the Parks and Recreation ADA Transition Plan.
