Declaring Youth Civic Engagement Day in the City of Saint Paul.

Body

WHEREAS, the involvement of youth in civic activities and community engagement is vital to the health and future of our society; and

WHEREAS, empowering young people to take an active role in their communities fosters a sense of responsibility, leadership, and a commitment to positive change; and

WHEREAS, youth civic engagement promotes the development of critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and an understanding of democratic processes and social justice; and

WHEREAS, organizations like Youth Civic Leaders and Black Political Action are dedicated to providing young individuals with the tools, opportunities, and support they need to become effective and engaged citizens; and

WHEREAS, youth participation in civic activities strengthens the bonds between generations and encourages a more inclusive and diverse community dialogue; and

WHEREAS, recognizing the contributions of young people in civic engagement highlights the importance of their voices and perspectives in shaping our communities and policies; and

WHEREAS, fostering a culture of civic engagement among youth can lead to innovative solutions to community challenges and inspire a lifelong commitment to active citizenship;

NOW, THEREFORE, the Saint Paul City Council declares October 23rd Youth Civic Engagement Day in the City of Saint Paul.
