Recognizing Dan Bayers for an Extraordinary Career with the City of Saint Paul and Congratulating him on his Retirement.

WHEREAS, Dan grew up on Saint Paul’s Eastside, son of a strong, resilient, and loving mother, graduated from Harding High School, and, to this day, considers himself a proud Eastsider, even while living the good life in Woodbury, and
WHEREAS, Dan began his career in public service in 1981 at age 18 keeping a watchful eye on swimmers young and old as a lifeguard at Lake Phalen; and
WHEREAS, Dan continued his uninterrupted service to Saint Paul residents, even while attending the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in economics; and
WHEREAS, Dan’s project management career in Planning and Economic Development from 1981 to 2024, spanned the administrations of Mayors George Latimer, James Scheibel, Norm Coleman, Randy Kelly, Chris Coleman, and Melvin Carter III; and
WHEREAS, during his decades in PED, Dan rose from City Planning Aide, to Project Management Tech, and then through the Project Manager titles until his current position as a Principle Project Manager, and former chair of the Credit Committee; and
WHEREAS, Dan brings commitment, thoughtfulness, and humor to every day in the office, and mentors younger project managers, freely sharing with them his expansive knowledge and keen insights; and
WHEREAS, Dan has managed scores of projects, representing tens of millions of dollars in public investment, and hundreds of millions of dollars in total development costs; and
WHEREAS, every neighborhood in Saint Paul has benefited from Dan’s commitment to quality affordable, safe, and sustainable housing for Saint Paulites; including projects such as the Ain Dah Yung Center, Phalen Village, and East Side Commons; and
