American Library Association Gift Acceptance

WHEREAS, three staff members of the Saint Paul Public Library Agency were invited by the American Library Association to participate in a preparation workshop for leading racial healing circles in public libraries across the country; and
WHEREAS, these three Library staff members will attend a workshop and training in order to lead racial healing workshops in Chicago, Illinois from March 21-22, 2019 hosted by the American Library Association; and
WHEREAS, the American Library Association has offered to pay up to $1,200 for the costs of registration, travel, lodging and some meals for three staff members; and
WHEREAS, attendance at the workshop will further the library’s goal to support racial healing in our communities; and
WHEREAS, the financing and spending plans for these monies have not been established; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor pursuant to Section 10.7.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriations funds of $1,200 in excess of those estimated in the 2019 budget and recommends the changes to the 2019 budget described in the attached fiscal analysis; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Library Board approves the changes to the 2019 Budget, and that said budget, as heretofore adopted by the Library Board is hereby amended as indicated in the attached fiscal analysis form; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Library Board thanks the American Library Association for its generous gift.
