Approving the Mayor’s reappointment of Karen Reid to a two-year term on the Lower Mississippi River Watershed Management Organization.
Body
WHEREAS, The Lower Mississippi River Watershed Management Organization was formed in response to the requirements of the Metropolitan Surface Water Management Act (“Chapter 509,” now recodified to Minnesota Statutes 103B); and
WHEREAS, the Act required, among other things, the preparation of watershed management plans in the Minneapolis-St. Paul Metropolitan area; and
WHEREAS, the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources, which has final approval authority for WMO plans, formally approved the LMRWMO Watershed Management Plan on July 26, 1989.; and A joint powers agreement was executed on October 25, 1985, which established and empowered the Lower Mississippi River Watershed Management Organization; and
WHEREAS, Lower Mississippi River Watershed Management Organization is operated by a Board of Managers appointed from each city in the Watershed Management Organization; and
WHEREAS, the Council approved the reappointment by Mayor Melvin Carter of Karen Reid to the Lower Mississippi River Watershed Management Organization on May 19, 2021 (23-1080), and her term expired on June 01, 2025; and
WHEREAS, Karen Reid has applied for consideration for reappointment as Lower Mississippi River Watershed Management Organization Board Member to the Lower Mississippi River Watershed Management Organization and is recommended for reappointment by Lower Mississippi River Watershed Management Organization staff; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Carter wishes to reappoint Karen Reid to the Lower Mississippi River Watershed Management Organization; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED that the Saint Paul City Council approves the reappointment of Karen Reid to a fourth two-year term on the Lower Mississippi River Watershed Management Organization ending June 01, 2027.
