Title

Amending the 2024 Public Works budget by reallocating funds from Winter Street Maintenance and Summer Street Maintenance in addition to shifting funds within Right of Way Maintenance Management to provide additional funding to Equipment of $ 211,466 to purchase an Asphalt Paver machine, a Blow Patch machine, & Pick Up Truck.

Body

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul maintains 1,874 miles of streets and roads that provide a safe and efficient infrastructure for businesses and citizens throughout the city limits; and

 

WHEREAS, an Asphalt Paver is needed for skim paving and Mill & Overlay work. This will eliminate the need to rent an essential machine; and

 

 WHEREAS, a Blow Patch machine will allow efficiency by providing a single person, usually working on the 2nd shift, the ability to fill potholes while providing safety to the worker who can do all the work right from the driver seat; and

 

WHEREAS, a new Supervisor in Street Mtce was hired, a pickup truck will be needed to transport the person to various work sites throughout the City on an ongoing basis; and

 

WHEREAS, the funds to be reallocated to cover the cost of the expenditures above are available due to less spending expected in 2024 from previously budgeted amounts; therefore via

 

ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER, consistent with the authority granted to the Mayor in Section 10.07.4 of the City Charter, and on the request of the Director of the Public Works Department to amend the 2024 spending budget for the reallocation of funds within the Public Works General Fund Street Maintenance accounting units. The Director of the Office of Financial Services is authorized to amend said budget in the manner as specified in the attached financial analysis.
