Approving the Mayor's appointment of Interim Chief of the Saint Paul Fire Department.
Body
WHEREAS, the position of Chief of the Saint Paul Fire Department for the City of Saint Paul was vacated effective December 30, 2025; and
WHEREAS, Greg Duren has served as the Assistant Chief for Emergency Medical Services of the Saint Paul Fire Department since August 2025, and prior to that served as Deputy Fire Chief since spring of 2024; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor appoints Greg Duren to serve as the Interim Chief of the Saint Paul Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 12.12 of the Saint Paul City Charter, the City Council shall establish and appoint a qualifications and examining committee in service of permanently filling the vacancy of Saint Paul Fire Department Chief; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council consents to and approves of the above appointment, made by Mayor Kaohly Her, effective January 2, 2026.
