Accepting the gift of the costs of travel, food, and lodging from Prosperity Now, for Mayor Melvin Carter to attend the 2022 Prosperity Summit in Atlanta, Georgia, September 19 and 20, 2022.

WHEREAS, Prosperity Now is hosting a biannual conference and convening a diverse range of professionals working to reduce wealth inequity and improve the financial well-being among individuals, families, and communities of color in the United States; and
WHEREAS, Prosperity Now invited Mayor Carter to attend the Prosperity Summit in Atlanta, Georgia, taking place on September 19 and 20, 2022; and
WHEREAS, Prosperity Now has offered to pay all expenses for Mayor Melvin Carter to attend the 2022 Prosperity Summit; and
WHEREAS, addressing racial and ethnic economic equity, and discovering new solutions and policies that promote financial security for Saint Paul residents is within the alignment of Mayor Carter’s goals and values; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Saint Paul finds that Mayor Carter’s attendance at the Summit will be beneficial to the City in providing a deeper understanding of approaches to economic equity; now therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby accepts the gift of up to $2,000 toward the cost of travel, food, and lodging expenses for Mayor Carter to attend the 2022 Prosperity Summit, and thanks Prosperity Now for its generous gift.
