Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to apply for a grant for $47,767 from the Bremer Foundation, and if awarded, accept and enter into a grant agreement which includes indemnification language.
 
Body
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is requesting permission to apply for $47,767 in grant funds from the Bremer Foundation to support an expansion of the Right Track youth employment efforts;  and
WHEREAS, the grant funds  will support temporary summer staff to work as job coaches for youth in Right Track YJ02; and
WHEREAS, the grant funds  will provide bus passes for youth participants during their first month of employment; and
WHEREAS, the grant funds  will help Right Track develop marketing and promotional materials to recruit youth and employers; and
WHEREAS, the grant funds will support an end of summer celebration event in partnership with the Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation; and
  
WHEREAS, the grant will require a contract with the Bremer Foundation in which the City will be required to indemnify the Bremer Foundation, the Board, its agents, and employees from any and all claims or causes of action arising from or relating in any way to the grant activities by the City or City's agents or employees; and
WHEREAS, the Council  finds that the expenditure of funds, which includes a promise of indemnification, for the purpose of receiving the grant and achieving these goals has a public purpose; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED,  that the Department of Parks and Recreation is authorized to apply for a grant from the Bremer Foundation, and if awarded, the appropriate city officials are authorized to enter into any necessary agreements to accept and spend the money for the stated purpose.
