Recognizing the Saint Paul Pioneers Men’s Amateur Football Team for outstanding athletic achievements and community service.
Body
WHEREAS, the St. Paul Pioneers were founded in 2002 by local residents in order to allow young men, ages 18 and older, to continue playing full-contact tackle football after high school, and
WHEREAS, the Pioneers have won 10 league championships, two regional championships and three National Championships, and
WHEREAS, the Pioneers recently won the 2015 Northern Elite Football League championship by defeating the Chippewa Valley Predators from Eau Claire, Wis., 33-14, and
WHEREAS, the Pioneers play from late April through mid-August with home games at SeaFoam Stadium on the campus of Concordia University-St. Paul and practice at Jimmy Lee Recreation Center in St. Paul, and
WHEREAS, the team is a 501(c)3 charitable organization with a mission to, “give back whenever possible through donations and volunteer time” and instructs hundreds of local youth football players at camps each Summer, including an annual free camp at the Saint Paul Municipal Athletics Fields at Rice St. and Arlington Ave.,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Saint Paul Pioneers Men’s Amateur Football Team be recognized by the City Council for their outstanding achievements in athletics and service to the community.
