Title

Authorizing the Police Department to accept a sub-grant in the amount of $171,863 from Ramsey County for the 2017 Toward Zero Death grant.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Ramsey County has been awarded  the 2017 Toward Zero Death Enforcement Program grant with the State of Minnesota, Department of Public Safety and has sub-granted a portion of this grant to the City of Saint Paul, Police Department; and

 

WHEREAS, this grant provides funds for the  costs of personnel and equipment  in its effort to increase compliance with traffic safety laws with particular emphasis on seat belt, child safety, distracted driving, seat belt enforcement, speed and move over enforcement and driving while intoxicated; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul Police Department requests authorization to enter into the attached sub-agreement; and

 

WHEREAS, the 2016 financing and spending plan needs to be amended for these funds to more accurately record expenditures; and

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $94,120 in excess of those estimated in the 2016 budget, adds new activity budget and recommends the changes as attached; and

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the city council accepts this grant, approves the changes to the 2016 budget and authorizes the City of Saint Paul to enter into and Assistant Chief Kathleen Wuorinen to implement the sub-agreement with Ramsey County in a form and content substantially as set forth.
