Authorizing Police Department to accept donated supplies and services from the St. Paul K-9 Foundation for the Canine Unit.
Body
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police K-9 Foundation is a tax-exempt nonprofit corporation organized exclusively for educational and charitable purposes to provide financial support for the Saint Paul Police Canine Unit; and
WHEREAS, the K-9 Foundation would like to donate supplies and services to the Saint Paul Police Canine Unit including veterinary services, facility storage shed, subscription KATS Platinum activity tracking system, annual lawn care for maintenance of the training field and trading cards for community engagement; and
WHEREAS, the estimated total value of the donated supplies and services is $19,375; and
WHEREAS, the K-9 Foundation will be purchasing a German Shepard dog, Rex, and will be donating to the Canine Unit as the replacement for retired K9, Frank, with a value of $9,000; and
WHEREAS, the SPPD would like to accept these generous donations from the St. Paul Police K-9 Foundation for which the public purpose is for public safety; and now, therefore, be it resolved
RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts this generous donation and extend its sincere thanks to the Saint Paul Police K-9 Foundation.
