Authorizing the donation of used surplus office supplies by the Office of Financial Services in 2019 to local non-profit organizations.
Body
WHEREAS, in the course of business, the Office of Financial Services has accumulated miscellaneous surplus used office supplies; and
WHEREAS, these office supplies (folders, binders, organizers, etc.), are not suitable for City re-use due to wear or alteration commensurate with their previous use; and
WHEREAS, these supplies have no monetary resale value; and
WHEREAS, these items will be surplus, will have no value to the Office of Financial Services, and the City would otherwise pay to dispose of them; and
WHEREAS, many local non-profit organizations may have use for these items; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to section 2.02(G)(6)(g)(3) of the Administrative Code, upon resolution of the Council, surplus materials and supplies may be donated to non-profit organizations serving a public purpose; and
WHEREAS, in an effort to advance sustainability within the City of Saint Paul, the Office of Financial Services wishes to donate these supplies, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that, pursuant to section 2.02(G)(6)(g)(3) of the Administrative Code, the Saint Paul City Council finds that donation of surplus office supplies to non-profit entities serves a public purpose, and authorizes the donation of the used surplus office supplies to local non-profit organizations in 2019.
