Appointing the interim Ward 4 councilmember. (Amended and laid over from March 26, 2025.)

WHEREAS, on February 21, 2025, pursuant to section 2.04 Saint Paul City Charter, Councilmember Mitra Jalali filed her resignation in writing with the City Clerk, effective March 8, 2025, thereby creating a vacancy in the office of councilmember for Ward 4 on the effective date.
WHEREAS, on March 19, 2025 the City Council meeting as the Organizational Committee interviewed candidates for the interim position; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Privratsky demonstrated thoughtful understanding of upcoming agenda items before the Council; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Privratsky demonstrated a deep dedication, specific understanding, and an obvious affection of Ward 4; and
WHEREAS, Former Council President Mitra Jalali was chosen overwhelmingly by her constituents in 2023 and the remainder of her term should proceed in a manner similar to her leadership, meeting the expectations and wishes of Ward 4 residents; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Privratsky possesses the most applicable and plentiful work experience germane to the four and a half month term that he would fulfill on behalf of former Council President Mitra Jalali, his former employer; and
WHEREAS, Councilmember Jost the Council President is recommending that Matt Privratsky_____ be appointed as the interim Councilmember for Ward 4; now
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul, pursuant to Section 2.05 (A) of the Saint Paul City Charter, does hereby appoint Matt Privratsky ______ as a city councilmember (1) to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Councilmember Mitra Jalali, and (2) to serve in such position until the election certificate is issued from the Ward 4 special election scheduled for August 12, 2025; and, be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, this appointment is effective on April 9, 2025, immediately following the administration of the oath of office to Matt Privratsky_____, as required by Section 17.03 ...
