Title

Authorizing the City to enter into a master contract with the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development to allow the City to receive and administer state funds for the operation of Right Track.

Body

 

 

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul Department of Parks and Recreation operates the Right Track youth employment program, which provides meaningful job training and workforce development opportunities for Saint Paul youth; and

 

WHEREAS, Right Track connects young people ages 14 to 21 to paid work experiences, career exploration, and skill-building opportunities that help prepare them to successfully enter the workforce; and

 

WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) supports youth workforce development statewide by providing training wages and related program support to assist young people in developing job skills and gaining employment experience; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul has partnered with DEED for many years to support the wages and employment opportunities provided through the Right Track program; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation seeks to enter into a master contract with the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development to allow the City to receive and administer state funds for the operation of Right Track; and

 

WHEREAS, the master contract is a zero-dollar agreement that establishes the terms and conditions under which the City may receive future grant funding from the State of Minnesota for this purpose; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby approves the Department of Parks and Recreation entering into a master contract with the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED), at no cost to the City, to allow the City to receive state funds for the operation of the Right Track youth employment program; and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, that the proper City officials are authorized and directed to execute the master contract and any related documents necessary to carry out this agreement.
