Recognizing the career of Julie Kraus with the City of Saint Paul and congratulating her on retirement.
Body
WHEREAS, Julie was raised in a large family near University and Western in Saint Paul and attended St. Agnes High School where she made lifelong friends; and
WHEREAS, Julie started her career as a Clerk Typist II with the school district at the St. Paul Technical College on June 22, 1987; and
WHEREAS, Julie transferred to the City of Saint Paul, City Clerk’s Office where she was in charge of staffing the polling locations with election Judges; and
WHEREAS, in April of 1993, Julie transferred to Human Resources and then moved to Labor Relations before joining the City Attorney’s Office in August of 2004 where she has served in both the Criminal and Civil Divisions; and
WHEREAS, as part of the Civil Division Team, Julie has been indispensable, she helps attorneys with preparing for public hearings and administrative enforcement actions, enters resolutions and generally keeps everyone on track; and
WHEREAS, for many years Julie has made sure that her fellow City Attorney’s Office teammates knows that they are not forgotten and that the office cares by managing the office sunshine fund and sending cards, gifts, and flowers; and
WHEREAS, Julie’s hard work for the City also extended beyond the City Attorney’s Office where for over 10 years she was a tireless volunteer organizer for the annual city employee cookout; and
WHEREAS, outside of the City Attorney’s Office, Julie’s dedication to the welfare of animals was reflected in her annual fundraising efforts and walk-a-thons for animal welfare; and
WHEREAS, Julie's years of dedicated service to the citizens of Saint Paul will be greatly missed; NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Saint Paul City Council thanks Julie Kraus for her many years of dedicated public service to the people of Saint Paul; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, In honor of Julie’s years of public service to the City of Saint Paul, September 20, 2023, will be known as ‘Julie Kraus Day’ in the City of Saint Paul.
