Approving the Mayor’s appointment of John Littlewolf, Joseph Ghianni, and reappointment of Mala Thao, Krystle Igbo-Ogbonna, Nonkululeko Shongwe, and Abdulrahman Mohamed to the Human Rights and Equal Economic Opportunity Commission.

WHEREAS, the Human Rights and Equal Economic Opportunity (HREEO) Commission is responsible for monitoring and advising the department on promoting justice and equity and fostering hiring policies that maximize the diversity of the workforce of the city; and
WHEREAS, Saint Paul Legislative Code Section 183.19 (1) states that the Human Rights and Equal Economic Opportunity Commission consists of twenty-one (21) members appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the Council; and
WHEREAS, John Littlewolf and Joseph Ghianni applied to fill vacancies on the Human Rights and Equal Economic Opportunity Commission; and
WHEREAS, Mala Thao, Krystle Igbo-Ogbonna, Nonkululeko Shongwe, and Abdulrahman Mohamed have applied to serve an additional term on the Human Rights and Equal Economic Opportunity Commission; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Melvin Carter wishes to appoint John Littlewolf and Joseph Ghianni to the Human Rights and Equal Economic Opportunity Commission for a three-year term ending on August 31, 2027; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Melvin Carter wishes to reappoint Mala Thao, Krystle Igbo-Ogbonna, Nonkululeko Shongwe, and Abdulrahman Mohamed to an additional term on the Human Rights and Equal Economic Opportunity Commission; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council approves the appointment of John Littlewolf and Joseph Ghianni to the Human Rights and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for a three-year term ending on August 31, 2027; and, be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council approves the appointment of Mala Thao, Krystle Igbo-Ogbonna, Nonkululeko Shongwe, and Abdulrahman Mohamed to an additional three-year term on the Human Rights and Equal Economic Opportunity Commission ending August 31, 2027.
