Title

Amending the financing and spending plans in the Department of Public Works in the amount of $35,000 for planned expenses related to the Shared Micro-mobility System.

Body

WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works / Transportation Planning and Safety Division will receive additional monies in 2024 from trip fees with shared mobility vendors under contract to provide shared electric scooter and shared electric-assisted bicycle services in the City of Saint Paul for the 2024 calendar year; and

 

WHEREAS, the contractual operating agreements executed with shared mobility vendors allow for the collection of trip fees for scooter and bicycle trips citywide and impact fees for trips that begin or end within City Parklands; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works and Department of Parks & Recreation received revenues for the 2023 operating season from two vendors in the amount of $46,034.72 for citywide fees and $19,499.50 for parks impact fees; and

WHEREAS, Public Works staff anticipates significant shared mobility revenues in 2024 based on 2023 ridership and estimated 2024 system use; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works / Transportation Planning and Safety Division has identified resources and opportunities that will help with effective management of the shared mobility system, including data management services and designated scooter parking areas and infrastructure; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there will be estimated funds of $35,000 in excess of those estimated in the budget; so

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Saint Paul, upon recommendation of the Mayor that $35,000 is available for appropriation in the Department of Public Works / Transportation Planning and Safety Division as heretofore adopted and amended by this Council, be hereby further amended in the particulars as specified in the attached financial analysis.
