Recognizing Pattie Kelley's career with the City of Saint Paul and congratulating her on her retirement.

WHEREAS, Pattie Kelley grew up on Minnehaha Avenue and is a proud multi-generational graduate of Central High School; and
WHEREAS, Pattie, started her journey with the City of Saint Paul on December 15, 1980, working for the Planning and Economic Development Department until 1985; and
WHEREAS, Pattie broadened her horizons joining the City Clerk’s Office in 1985 and then became an elementary school clerk in 1990; and
WHEREAS, Pattie continued on her path of learning more and expanding her skills when she joined the Department of Public Works in 1993; and
WHEREAS, Pattie came to us in City Council Offices first in 1995, working as a Secretary Stenographer for Councilmember Janice Rettman; and
WHEREAS, when Saint Paul City Councilmember Janice Rettman became Ramsey County Commissioner Janice Rettman, Pattie returned to her old stomping grounds at the Department of Planning and Economic Development; and
WHEREAS, Pattie came back to her true home in City Council Offices in 2006 to work with Councilmember Pat Harris from 2006 to 2011 and then Councilmember Chris Tolbert from 2012 to the present day; and
WHEREAS, Pattie blossomed with pride as her son Jesse served his country overseas in the U.S. Armed Forces and she was inspired to lead the local chapter of Blue Star Mothers of America - a private nonprofit organization that provides support for mothers who have sons or daughters in active service as its; and
WHEREAS, Pattie’s son Jesse filled her life with more pride and joy as she became a grandmother to numerous treasured grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Pattie’s creative energies have been channeled into beautiful arts and crafts projects over the years; and
WHEREAS, we in Council Offices were able to vicariously join in the thrill of Pattie’s trip of a lifetime to Ireland; and
WHEREAS, after 40 years, Pattie is bringing her public service career to a close; and
WHEREAS, in retirement Pattie will be able to spend more time with her son and grandchildren, pursuing crafts and volunteering in activities which bring her joy; Now Therefore be it
RESOLVED, the Saint Paul City Council officially retires the title of Secretary Stenographer from the City in honor of Pattie Kelley, the final person serving under this title; and be it further
RESOLVED, the Saint Paul City Council thanks Pattie Kelley for her many years of dedicated public service to the people of Saint Paul; and be it also resolved:
RESOLVED, In honor of Pattie's years of public service to the City of St. Paul, December 1, 2020 her first official day of retirement, will be known as Pattie Kelley Day in the City of St. Paul and be it finally
RESOLVED, the Saint Paul City Council congratulates Pattie Kelley on her entrance into the next chapters of her life where she will be able to enjoy the fruits of her many years of labor with her loving family.
