Authorizing an increase in the Department of Parks and Recreation Grant Fund in the amount of $30,000 to reflect grant funds received from the Creative Support for Organizations grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board (MSAB), authorizing entering into a grant agreement (which includes an indemnification clause), and amending the Department Grant Fund to support the Dayton’s Bluff Project: Celebrating Community Through Art.

WHEREAS, by CF #22-1354, the Department of Parks and Recreation applied for and has received a $30,000 Creative Support for Organizations grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board (MSAB); and
WHEREAS, grant funds will allow the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide support for the Dayton’s Bluff Project: Celebrating Community Through Art; and
WHEREAS, granted funds require that the Department of Parks and Recreation enter into a grant agreement that details the conditions of the grant, which include an indemnification clause; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Saint Paul finds that funds to provide quality, performance and visual art instruction to Saint Paul youth, specifically youth from the Dayton’s Bluff community, has a public purpose; and
WHEREAS, there is no match amount required of these funds by the City and other supporting agencies of the grant; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to accept this grant and utilize the funding through the spending plan that has been developed; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to amend the Grant Fund budget to reflect this additional funding; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.01 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation, funds of $30,000 in excess of those estimated in the current Grant Budget; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes acceptance of the grant funds and approves these amendments for the Life-to-Date Grant Budget; and, be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Department of Parks and Recreation is authorized to execute the necessary grant agreement with the Minnesota State Arts Board (MSAB), which includes an indemnification clause, to accept and utilize these funds.
