Amending the finance and spending budget in the Department of Parks and Recreation in the amount of $25,000 to reflect grant funds received from the I.A. O’Shaugnessy Foundation from the Grant holder’s fiscal agent Minnesota Landmark for the Rice Park Revitalization project.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul performs significant services for residents of the Metropolitan area and all Minnesota residents through the ownership and operation of its parks and trails; and
WHEREAS, the I.A. O’Shaughnessy Foundation is a family foundation with a mission to share the legacy of Ignatius Aloysius O’Shaughnessy for the common good, making grants that enrich communities and improve people’s lives; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation recently completed the Rice Park Revitalization project which included improvements to the existing electrical system, irrigation, lighting infrastructure on site, as well as landscape improvements for new walkways, concrete seat walls, and plantings; and
WHEREAS, acceptance of said funds from the I.A. O’Shaugnessy Foundation will allow the Department of Parks and Recreation to complete a permanent, year-round lighting art feature as part of the Rice Park Revitalization project; and
WHEREAS, Minnesota Landmark has authorized the Department of Parks and Recreation to act on their behalf for the project; and
WHEREAS, there is no matching fund requirement; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to accept said funding and amend the financing and spending budget for the Rice Park Revitalization project in the amount of $25,000; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, and the advice of the Capital Improvement Budget Committee, does hereby certify that $25,000 in funds are available for appropriation in excess of those estimated in the 2017 budget and recommends the changes to the 2017 budget identified on the Financial Analysis; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Saint Paul, upon recommendation of the Mayor and the advice of the Long Range Capital Improvement Budget Committee, that $25,000 is available for appropriation in the 2017 Capital Improvement Budget, and said 2017 budget, as therefore adopted by the Council, is hereby further amended.
