Title

Pertaining to the resignation of Saint Paul Regional Water Services General Manager, Patrick Shea.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the Board appointed Patrick Shea to the position of General Manager of the Saint Paul Regional Water Services effective March 29, 2021 per the terms of Resolution No. 4909.

                     

WHEREAS, Mr. Shea faithfully served the Board of Water Commissioners and the customers of St. Paul Regional Water Services (SPRWS) as Assistant General Manager for over a year prior to then and General Manager since his appointment; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Shea provided experience and knowledge of the emerging trends in water service that allowed Saint Paul Regional Water Services to be vigilant, creative, innovative, and effective in meeting the needs of the communities it serves; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Shea provided steadfast leadership and resolve required to face the challenges of leading a workforce through an unprecedented pandemic, thereby ensuring that quality water and services would go unimpeded for all the Board’s customers; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Shea successfully advocated at City, State, and Federal levels for funding needed to launch and continue the Board’s historic Lead Free SPRWS project, a monumental effort to rid the Board’s water distribution system of lead water services in the right-of-way and within private property at no direct cost to its customers; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Shea has been a steadfast advocate for a diverse and inclusive workplace culture and expanded top-down communications such as periodic town hall events and weekly newsletters for all employees; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Shea advocated in favor of responsible investment in the Board’s water system including support for the McCarron’s Plant Improvement Project; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Shea’s keen sense of humor and sharp wit contributed to making Saint Paul Regional Water Services an enjoyable place to work; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Shea has notified the Board of his intent to resign from the Saint Paul Regional Water Services effective February 9, 2024; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Board of Water Commissioners accepts such resignation and commends Patrick Shea for his outstanding and dedicated leadership; and, be it

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, that the members of the Board of Water Commissioners extend to Patrick Shea, his wife Joy, and their children Jacob and Whitney best wishes in all future endeavors.
