Title

Authorizing an increase in the Department of Parks and Recreation Grant Fund in the amount of $25,000 to reflect grant funds received from the Minnesota DNR (authorization to enter into a grant agreement detailing the requirements of said grant, and to amend the Department of Parks and Recreation Grant Fund to reflect said funds) to support the Saint Paul’s Outdoor Adventures project.

WHEREAS, by Res #: 24-1744, the Department of Parks and Recreation applied for and has received $25,000 from the Minnesota DNR’s No Child Left Inside Seeking Outdoor Adventures and Recreation (S.O.A.R.) grant program; and

 

WHEREAS, grant funds will allow the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide support for Saint Paul’s Outdoor Adventures project; and

 

WHEREAS, there is an unspecified match amount required of these funds by the City and other supporting agencies which will be provided by in-kind staffing support with minimal supply funds from EMP funds; and

 

WHEREAS, said Minnesota DNR No Child Left Inside grant funds require that the Department of Parks and Recreation enter into a grant agreement that details the conditions of the grant; and

 

WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Saint Paul finds that funds to provide quality outdoor interactions for Saint Paul youth has a public purpose; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to accept this grant and utilize the funding through the spending plan that has been developed; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to amend the Grant Fund budget to reflect this additional funding; and

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.01 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation, funds of $25,000 in excess of those estimated in the current Grant Budget; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes acceptance of the grant funds and approves these amendments for the Life-to-Date Grant Budget; and, be it

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Department of Parks and Recreation is authorized to execute the necessary grant agreement with the MN DNR to accept and utilize these funds.
