Accepting the gift of travel expenses from Welcoming America for Assistant City Attorney, Edmundo D. Lijo to attend the Welcoming Interactive in Dallas, Texas on April 10 -12, 2024.

WHEREAS, Welcoming America a nonprofit organization that leads a movement of inclusive communities becoming more prosperous by ensuring everyone belongs, including immigrants; and
WHEREAS Welcoming America sponsors the Welcoming Network, a network composed of over 300 nonprofits and local governments working to build more inclusive and welcoming communities in the United States; and
WHEREAS, the Welcoming America Network is both a network and a movement, driven by the conviction that communities make better decisions when residents of all backgrounds, identities, and perspectives are meaningfully engaged; and
WHEREAS the City of Saint Paul pays an annual membership fee of $1500 to be a core member of the Welcoming Network; and
WHEREAS, Saint Paul receives numerous benefits from membership in the Welcoming America Network including network coaching and strategy sessions, access to a diverse community of practice and member learning exchange opportunities; exclusive access to timely member resources, webinars, and calls, and tailored programs that support communities in building a welcoming infrastructure; and
WHEREAS, Saint Paul also received two complimentary registrations to the Welcoming America’s Welcoming Interactive on April 10-12, 2024 in Dallas Texas ($700.vaulue) as part of its membership dues; and
WHEREAS, City of Saint Paul Assistant City Attorney, Edmundo D. Lijo utilized one of the complimentary registrations to attend the 2024 Welcoming Interactive; and
WHEREAS, attending this Interactive offered an opportunity to learn and strategize on how Saint Paul can become a more inclusive and welcoming community; and
WHEREAS, the educational and networking opportunities offered through this Interactive are of significant benefit to the City of Saint Paul and our residents, and
WHEREAS, participation in the Welcoming Interactive provided an opportunity to acquire technical knowledge to develop and improve the City of Saint Paul’s Immigrant and Refugee Program; now therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby accepts the gift of a complimentary registration for Assistant City Attorney Edmundo D. Lijo’s attendance at the Welcoming America Welcoming Interactive on April 10-12, 2024 and thanks Welcoming America for its generous gift.
