Approving the polling location changes for the November 8, 2011 General Election.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the Charter Commission has completed the task of reestablishing ward boundaries following the 2010 census, and

 

WHEREAS, minor transfers of territory between wards 1, 2, 3 and 5 were necessary to bring wards 1 and 5 more closely into compliance with the law, and

 

WHEREAS, these changes will require adjustments to the polling location places in preparation for the 2011 city general election, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, Pursuant to Minnesota Statute, Section 204B.16, the Council of the City of Saint Paul  hereby approves the following list of polling precinct location changes for the General Election of November 8, 2011. 

 

Change the polling place designation for the voters in the new W2 P17 (the area bounded by West 7th St, I-35E, Shepard Rd and   Homer St) to Sholom Home East, 740 Kay Ave.

 

Change the polling place designation for the voters in the part of W3 P12 combined with W3 P11 to The Wellington, 2235 Rockwood Ave.

 

Change the polling place designation for the part of W2 P10 located west of the railroad tracks to Central Presbyterian Church, 500 Cedar St.

 

Change the polling place designation for the voters in the part of W5 P7 north of Front Ave to the Rice Street Library, 1011 Rice St.

 

Change the polling place designation for the voters in the part of W5 P10 south of Front Ave and west of Jackson St to the Lewis Park Apartments, 180 Wayzata St. and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,  the polling location  for W3 P3 be changed from Cleveland High Rise, 899 Cleveland Ave S., to Luman Christi Catholic Community, 2055 Bohland Ave., due to a shortage of voter parking at the current location.

 

AND BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED,  should further changes occur in the polling locations between the date of this resolution and November 8, 2011, the Ramsey County Election Bureau is hereby authorized to find appropriate locations in which to hold the elections.  A postal notification will be sent to all registered voters affected by the changes.
