Authorizing an increase in the Parks and Recreation Grant Fund Budget in the amount of $1,713,000 to reflect various grant funding awarded in 2017 from the State of Minnesota DEED, Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Metropolitan Council, and State of Minnesota DNR; and anticipated non-grant funding for Environmental Services and Arts & Gardening.
Body
WHEREAS, Parks and Recreation has been awarded grant funding in the amount of $400,000 from the State of Minnesota, Department of Employment and Economic Development, to continue funding for Right Track operations during the State’s 2018 Fiscal Year; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation has been awarded an additional $371,000 from CDBG for Right Track funding in 2017; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation has been awarded an additional $100,000 in Legacy Funding from the Metropolitan Council for operations of the Como Shuttle Program in State Fiscal Year 2018; and
WHEREAS, Parks and Recreation has been awarded recurring grant funding in the amount of $320,000 from the State of Minnesota, Department of Natural Resources, for State Fiscal Years 2018/19, to continue supporting operations at the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory; and
WHEREAS, Parks and Recreation has been awarded recurring grant funding for the Metropolitan Council in the amount of $165,000 for State Fiscal Year 2017 and $167,000 for State Fiscal Year 2018, to continue supporting the operations of Great River Passage; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation also wishes to establish new budgets in the Grant Fund to receive projected contribution and donation revenues of $100,000 for Environmental Services and $90,000 for Arts & Gardening; and
WHEREAS, none of the additional grant funding listed above requires any matching funds; and
WHEREAS, Parks and Recreation wishes to amend these Grant Fund budgets with spending plans for the additional funding; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.01 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation, funds of $1,713,000 in excess of those estimated in the current Grant Budget; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes these amendments for the Life-to-date Grant Budget.
