Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to accept donations for the 2010 Blooming St. Paul Program and thanking contributors.
 
Body
WHEREAS, the City Department of Parks and Recreation helps to beautify the city through the Blooming Saint Paul program; and
 
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, through the Blooming Saint Paul program, provides garden maintenance services to various community groups and businesses with plantings in public spaces or on City property; and
 
WHEREAS, community groups and businesses are providing monies for these services and purchasing of horticultural material as follows:
 
9th Street Lofts - (hanging baskets) - $473.00;
Capital City Partnership - (Downtown hanging baskets) - $11,992.00;
Dakota Building - (hanging baskets) - $1,137.00;
District 6 - (hanging baskets on Rice Street) - $5,088.00;
Friends of Mears Park - (hanging baskets and gardens) - $2,141.00;
Friends of Wacouta Commons - (hanging baskets) - $585.00;
Hamline-Midway Coalition - (Snelling Avenue planters) - $1,130.00;
Highland Business Association - (watering planters) - $2,728.00;
Markham Group - (7th Place Plaza) - $2,532.00;
Ordway Center for the Performing Arts - (Flint Hills Childrens Festival) - $22,925.00;
Pioneer Press - (Golden Bloom Ceremony) - $2,500.00;
Public Art Saint Paul - (Projects at Rice Recreation Center/Western Sculpture Park) - $3,112.00;
Ramsey County - (County Courthouse) - $400.00;
Rice Park Association - (Rice Park) - $4,321.00;
Riverview Economic Development Cor. - (hanging baskets) - $2,632.00;
SARPA - (watering Ayd Mill Urns) - $670.00;
The Pointe Condominiums - (hanging baskets) - $703.00;
W. 7th Businesses - (hanging baskets) - $1,409.00;
Wells Fargo - (Wells Fargo Plaza at 7th Place) - $965.00;
 
TOTAL - $67,443.00;and
 
WHEREAS, it is the Department of Parks and Recreation's intention to accept monies into the 2010 budget in order to expend the monies; and
 
WHEREAS, these monies will allow the Blooming Saint Paul program to continue with these projects; now, therefore, be it
 
RESOLVED, that the proper city officials are hereby authorized to accept the $67,443.00 and to enter into the necessary agreements related to these beautification projects.
 
FURTHER  RESOLVED, that the Mayor, the City Council and other city officials hereby thank the various community groups and businesses for their support in making Saint Paul beautiful.
