Amending the financing and spending plans in the Department of Parks and Recreation in the amount of $639,275 to reflect additional 2025 funding expected from Como Friends.

WHEREAS, Como Friends is a registered not-for-profit organization formed to promote, support, preserve and enhance the Como Zoo and Marjorie McNeely Conservatory; and
WHEREAS, the Como Friends' mission is to advance Como Park Zoo and Conservatory as a destination where people from all walks of life can gather, learn and enjoy the natural world; and
WHEREAS, Como Friends is donating an additional $639,275 to support and enhance the Japanese Garden and the Como Zoo and Marjorie McNeely Conservatory; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to establish new budgets in the Grant Fund to receive the projected contribution and donation revenues of $15,000 for the Animal Care and Welfare, $75,000 for the Aquatics Building Phase 5 Planning - Conservation Space, $2,450 for the Bair Hugger, $3,000 for the Miscellaneous Vet Supplies, $10,000 for the School Program Scholarships, $15,000 for the Camp Scholarships, $15,000 for the ASB Outdoor Holding Concrete, $20,000 for the Aquatics Building Interp Interactive, $15,000 for the Chloe Sloth's Habitat Barrier, $2,700 for the Bamboo fence around gorilla forest, $50,000 for the Children's Garden Update Planning, $4,000 for the Portable Anesthesia Machine, $80,000 for the Aquatics Sound, $240 for the Tribit Bluetooth Speaker StormBox Blast 2, $12,000 for the Nature Walk Staffing Support, $20,000 for the Grow light replacements for Orchid House, Compartment 133 and partial bay 2, $10,000 for the Plant Material, $30,000 for the Monkey Natural Lighting, $40,000 for the SPPS Program Expansion, $2,000 for the Apprentice Friends & Family Recognition Event, $23,190 for the Wyoming Toad Hibernaculum, $6,000 for the Como Harbor Medical Pool False Bottom, $5,000 for the Animal Enrichment, $1,000 for the Zoo Veterinary Library, $2,000 for the Primate Washer & Dryer, $25,000 for the Sunken Garden/lobby decorative pot upgrade, $17,000 for the Off Season Planters, $15,000 for the Japanese Garden spray program, $12,500 for the Japanese Garden Tree pruning on large pines, $12,500 for the Garden Pathway Planting, $98,695 Woodland Animal Ambassador; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.01 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation, funds of $639,275 in excess of those estimated in the 2025 budget; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul approves these amendments to the 2025 budget, and thanks Como Friends for its ongoing support.
