Stated Reason for Appeal (if given): PO sent in a check for $40 in Late Jan and had service hold from Feb 3 - April 30.
Staff Comments: We submitted a temporary service hold to Republic Services on January 30, 2025 to pause garbage service from February 3 to April 30, 2025. Republic did not acknowledge receiving the hold and charged the PO for service for the whole quarter and assessed the PO for 44.27 (after the $40 payment in Jan was applied). When an assessment inquiry was submitted to Republic asking for more information about the service hold, they said we could remove the assessment if Public Works have a copy of the email sent to Republic Services, which we do have. Staff recommends removing assessment.

WHEREAS, the Office of Financial Services Real Estate Section has attached to this Council File both a report of completion outlining the costs and fees associated with the Collection of Delinquent Garbage Bills for services during January to March 2025. (File No.CG2503A2, Assessment No.250117) and the assessment roll including all properties for which these assessments are proposed for Council ratification; and
WHEREAS, the City Council’s Legislative Hearing Officer has reviewed an appeal of this assessment and developed a recommendation for the City Council with respect to this assessment; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing having been conducted for the above improvement, and said assessment having been further considered by the Council and having been considered financially satisfactory; Now, Therefore, Be It
RESOLVED, that pursuant to Chapter 14 of the Saint Paul City Charter, said assessment is hereby deleted.
